Accessible Cinema Showcase

October 19, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

Audio description enables blind and low-vision moviegoers to hear descriptions of film images and actions, while captions provide on-screen text descriptions of dialogue and sound design for non-auditory viewers.

This showcase includes experimental and personal essay films created by VM331: Accessible Cinema students, who incorporated audio description and captions into the concept of their film. Throughout the filmmaking process, they considered how accessibility features can impact film structure, how audio and visuals can creatively mirror each other, and how the other senses – touch, smell, and taste – can be incorporated into time-based art.

The program will also include experimental and narrative films by professional filmmakers with audio description and open captions by Accessible Cinema students.

All films have audio description and open captions
