Announcing Virgin Unite Foundation Fellows with Screenings and Public Lecture on April 6 & 7
The School of Film, Television and Media Arts (SOF) is pleased to announce two evenings of documentary screenings on April 6 and 7, and an open lecture by the award-winning filmmaker Lee Anne Schmitt about her documentary work on April 7.
On Monday, April 6 at 7 p.m., nine student documentaries will be screened in the Paramount Center (Bright Family Screening Room). The undergraduate and graduate students were selected by a faculty panel for recognition as the recipients of the Virgin Unite Foundation Fellowship. The Fellowship includes a public screening hosted by an acclaimed documentarian, an award of $1000, and one-to-one meetings between the Fellowship recipients and a guest filmmaker.
This year, that guest filmmaker is Lee Anne Schmitt. On Tuesday, April 7, Schmitt will give an open lecture at 12:15 p.m. in the Student Performance Center Black Box in the Little Building basement. She will also screen her documentary Evidence at 7 p.m. on April 7 in the Paramount Center (Bright Family Screening Room), followed by a Q&A with Schmitt.
The nine student films selected represent a broad diversity of documentary styles and subjects. They are:
- The Confidantes (21:28), by Robin Chen, MFA ’26
- Whisper (8:27), by Zichen Lan ’27
- No English in America (13:48), by Jing Dong, MFA ’26
- Undigestible (7:48), by Grace Clancy ’28

These events were made possible by a donation from the Virgin Unite Foundation, which supports social impact filmmaking by Emerson students.
