Emerson a ‘Hub of Creative Energy’ with WaveForms Art Exhibit

On Thursday, February 12, the Paramount Center will be transformed into a world of audio-visual wonder when, for the first time, Emerson hosts the WaveForms “multimedia art occurrence.”
Now in its third year, and part of Emerson’s partnership with the Museum of Science (MoS), the event will run from 6:00 – 10:00 pm, is free with reservations, and open to the public.
Affiliated faculty member Sharon Topper, senior advisor to Emerson President Jay Bernhardt and an originator of Emerson’s partnership with the MoS, said Emerson is excited to continue its work with the museum into the Year of Revolutionary Science.
“We love having Emerson be this hub of creativity and creative energy, and plan to do more in the future,” Topper said.
Each of the Paramount Center’s performance spaces will host a different exhibition, curated by one of several event partners. MASARY Studios will present audio visual performances in the Robert J. Orchard Stage; Spatial Sound Mixtape, curated by the MIT Spatial Sound Lab, will be in the Jackie Liebergott Black Box; and in the Bright Family Screening Room, experimental animation and videos selected by Boston Cyberarts will screen. Emerson will introduce a new track with the revitalization of the LED media facade on the Paramount.
Emerson students and faculty are among the artists who have submitted installations and work to the show. Specific exhibitors will be announced later in January.
“WaveForms plays to Emerson’s strengths as an incubator of creative thinking,” Topper said. “It also ties in so beautifully with the Creativity@Emerson initiative, which is working to establish a common language across the campus around what creativity is and how it is critical to everything we do.”
Tickets to WaveForms are free, but must be reserved in advance through the MoS
