CSD Shares Scholarship, Insights at ASHA Convention

At least 30 Communication Sciences and Disorders faculty, staff, and alums presented research, seminars, workshops, and posters during the 2025 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention, held last month in Washington, D.C.
ASHA is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for 241,000 audiologists, speech-language pathologists, scientists, audiology and SLP assistants, and students.
“The outstanding participation of CSD students, alumni, staff, and faculty demonstrates our role as leaders in advancing the profession through cutting-edge research, innovative programs and services for students, and the use of the most current teaching practices,” said CSD Chair Nydia Bou.
Emersonians presented both in person and virtually over the three-day conference, and representatives from CSD met with prospective graduate students at a Graduate Fair sponsored by the College.
Among the many Emerson contributions were presentations on communication self-efficacy in deaf and hard of hearing college students, training bilingual SLPs, early SLP involvement for tracheostomy patients, and the impact of music on communication in those with dementia.
