Elyan’s Film ‘Salma’s Home’ Highlights Inaugural Jamaica Plain Film Festival: Globe

School of Film, Television, and Media Arts assistant professor & graduate program director Hanadi Elyan’s film, Salma’s Home, headlines the first Jamaica Plain Film Festival, held September 5-7 at the Loring Greenough House.

The award-winning 2022 film in Arabic follows the lives of women in a complicated living situation, determined to get an inheritance.

It’s a feel-good film that breaks stereotypes, and gives a glimpse of life in Jordan that is very different than what you see on the news or any representation of Arabs or Muslims. It’s a fresh take and people are hungry to see these things — people, in general, are tired of being told the same old story.
