Communication Studies senior affiliated faculty and Big Fish PR CEO David Richard weighs in on Boston’s new National Women’s Soccer League team’s “Too Many Balls” marketing campaign and its flat landing. A day after it launched, it faced criticism for lack of inclusivity, and the team apologized.
Doing something out of the gate that might not necessarily be fully seen as inclusive is a challenge for them, but it’s not insurmountable. There’s enough of goodwill in what they are doing and what the brand stands for, that for they can turn this around and win the hearts and minds of a bunch of different fans.
