Reminder of Commencement, Hooding Ceremonies

Dear Emersonians,

As a challenging and sometimes painful semester draws to a close, I want to assure the community that Commencement, one of Emerson’s most essential and meaningful traditions, will be held as scheduled, on Sunday, May 12, 10:00 am, at Boston University’s Agganis Arena.

The ceremony is, as always, about recognizing and celebrating the hard work and creative output of the graduating Class of 2024 and giving them the Commencement they have earned.

As you know, Randy Barbato ‘82, co-founder of the multi-platform entertainment company behind Emmy Award-winning show RuPaul’s Drag Race, will deliver the Commencement address to the class.

Graduate Hooding Ceremonies also will proceed as scheduled on Saturday, May 11, at 2:00 pm (School of the Arts) and 4:30 pm (School of Communication), this year at a new venue, the Shubert Theater.

I’d also like to encourage members of the community to participate in the ceremonies, whether as a student hosting a cap decorating party, a faculty member processing in regalia, or as a staff member volunteering to help out. It’s a wonderful opportunity both to honor the graduates and to be part of something enduring and Emersonian. You can learn more about processing or volunteering on the Faculty and Staff section of the Commencement webpage.

I look forward to celebrating with you in one week!

With gratitude,

Vicky Peterson
Commencement Director
