New College and Program Rankings Released for 2023

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Emerson College #3 in innovation among Regional Universities (North) in the latest college and university rankings for 2023, representing a four-position rise over last year.

The Most Innovative Schools are ranked following a survey of university and college officials who nominate up to 15 institutions demonstrating innovation in curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology, or facilities. Emerson also rose two places in the Best Value category this year over last. U.S. News ranked the College in a tie for 13th place overall in its category.

Last month, The Hollywood Reporter again ranked Emerson’s film program #6 in the country, pointing to the success of Emerson alums, including directors Daniel Kwan ’10 and Daniel Scheinert ’09, who dominated this year’s awards season with their Everything Everywhere All at Once. The publication also highlighted the Global BFA in Film Art program and Hollywood industry internship offerings.

The Princeton Review, in its 2024 Best Colleges guide, gives Emerson and 88.9 WERS the #2 spot for Best College Radio Station in the country, and our theaters are ranked #4 in the nation. Emerson was also ranked #8 for LGBTQ-friendliness, #20 for its Boston setting, and #22 out of the Top 50 Green Colleges.

Emerson’s commitment to sustainability was also recognized recently when it was ranked third in energy efficiency among American and Canadian colleges and universities in the 2023 Sustainable Campus Index, a report from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

“We are grateful to those organizations that recognize the unique qualities that make Emerson one of the leading programs for the study and practice of communication and arts in the world,” said Emerson President Jay Bernhardt.
