COVID Update: Spring Break and Test Planning

Dear Emerson faculty, staff and students:

As we quickly approach Spring Break (March 7-11) and continue to monitor COVID infection rates among our community and the city, we are writing to inform you of the College’s  COVID testing plan we have developed for community members as they return to campus.

We ask that any member of our community who will be leaving campus for the break, to secure an antigen rapid test that they must administer 24 hours prior to their arrival back to campus. The results of this self-administered rapid test do not need to be submitted to anyone prior to your return, but we recommend taking a photo of your result to have for your records and in case it is needed. You will not need to complete any attestation on the Emerson App. If you have tested positive for COVID within the past 90 days, you do not need to take a test.

If you test positive either during spring break or from the rapid test, please contact your PCP and send a copy of your positive test result to healthservices@emerson.edu to coordinate your return. Do not travel to campus until after you have completed your isolation period.

We will ask all students to resume on-campus testing at Tufts Medical Center at 116 Harrison Avenue on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (March 14-16) after their return from the break.

The test center will be open regular hours for staff who are working on campus that week, as well as students approved to remain on campus.

Please note: Testing will not be required, or available, at the Emerson/TMC site (116 Harrison Ave.) the weekend of March 12 and 13.

Thank you in advance and please let us know if you have any questions.

Be well,
Erik Muurisepp
COVID Lead
