Get Konnected! Names Sylvia Spears One of 50 Most Influential People of Color in Higher Education in MA

Vice President for Equity & Social Justice Sylvia Spears was named one of the 50 Most Influential People of Color in Higher Education in Massachusetts by Get Konnected!, an inclusive, cross-cultural professional organization.

Spears, who leads the College’s Social Justice Center, has more than 25 years of experience in higher education and a significant background in providing leadership for programs related to diversity, educational and workplace equity, community building, and inclusion.

Spears joined additional higher education leaders in a virtual celebration and Q&A this week on diversity in leadership, which included F. Javier Cevallos (Framingham State), Pam Edinger (Bunker Hill Community College), Lily Hsu (Laboure College), Paula Johnson (Wellesley College), and Valerie Roberson (Roxbury Community College).

President Lee Pelton is a former recipient of this honor as well.

In 2016, Get Konnected! created Boston’s first comprehensive list of the 100 Most Influential People of Color.
