Updates on Campus Safety and Resources
Hello,
As President Pelton noted in his message on Tuesday, Facility Services staff will be placing boards on the windows of some buildings around the campus. This is being done with an eye toward caution. While we hope all activities on the Boston Common will remain peaceful, the College is taking steps to ensure the safety of our campus community. Some, but not all, ground-floor windows will be covered or partially covered with boards, primarily on those buildings facing Boylston, Washington, and Tremont streets.
As a reminder, all classes will utilize an online format today. Beginning at 6:00 pm, 172 Tremont, the Library, and the Fitness Center will close, and all other buildings will switch to tap access for entry. The Emerson College COVID Testing Center will maintain regular hours, as will the Dining Center. Please note that any Emerson student can tap into the foyer of Emerson residence halls, which have security in place 24 hours per day, at any time.
As the election results continue to be counted, I know there will be a range of feelings and reactions. Please do take advantage of the opportunities to connect virtually to the many programs and gatherings offered in the next few days. (See Emerson Today or EmConnect). This is a good time to check in with friends and family and remind ourselves of the connections we share. You can find information on Emerson College Counseling & Psychological Services here, as well as a full list of services available virtually at the Emerson Everywhere page.
The College will continue to provide updates and information as they become available. It is important for all of us to take care of ourselves, stay informed, and be safe.
Take care,
Jim Hoppe
Vice President and Dean for Campus Life
