Emerson Marlboro Alliance Update

Emerson College is pleased that the Vermont Attorney General’s Office has approved the Emerson College and Marlboro College alliance agreement. Beginning this Fall, Marlboro students, if they wish, will matriculate to Emerson, and Marlboro tenured and tenure-track faculty who elect to do so will teach at Emerson. Additionally, Emerson’s Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies will be renamed the Marlboro Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies at Emerson College. In exchange, Marlboro will transfer to Emerson its endowment and non-real estate assets.

We are very pleased that the Marlboro and Emerson agreement will preserve Marlboro’s legacy, provide its students with a pathway to complete their degrees in an independent learning environment, and permit its faculty to continue their teaching, scholarship, creative activities, and research.

The alliance at Emerson College will ensure an innovative and exceptional educational experience for future generations in the nation’s hub for teaching, learning and research in Boston.
