Update for the Community

Dear members of the Emerson community,

We have unfortunately received news that two additional Emerson staff members on the Boston campus have tested positive for COVID-19. Both individuals are currently recovering off campus.

The staff members were last on campus on Tuesday, April 1 and on Wednesday, April 2.  Neither of the two staff members were in contact with any students.

The College will remain in communication with these staff members and is providing support to them as they recover. It is important that we protect the privacy of these individuals. Emerson’s Human Resources department has also contacted those who may have had exposure to the two staff members and has provided further guidance to those community members regarding recommendations for evaluation, monitoring and testing.

We understand that this information may be difficult to receive and anticipate that more positive COVID-19 test results may be forthcoming as testing and community transmission increases. Going forward, the College will provide updates on those community members on Emerson’s COVID-19 website.

In addition, to help us support our community and better assess the impact of COVID-19 on our students, faculty, and staff, community members are welcome to self-report positive test results via the College’s new Self-Report feature, also located on the COVID-19 site. Participation is voluntary, and there is an option to submit an anonymous report.

As a reminder, students with health-related questions can contact the Center for Health and Wellness at 617-824-8666 and Emerson Counseling & Psychological Services at 617-824-8595.

Staff may contact the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 24 hours/7 days/week, 365 days/year at 1-800-828-6025 for support for themselves or family members during this challenging time.

Please continue to keep all those who have been impacted by COVID-19 in your thoughts.

Sincerely,
Lee
