Important Update: Positive COVID-19 Test Result

Dear members of the Emerson community,

Unfortunately, we have been informed that an Emerson staff member on the Boston campus has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual is currently recovering in isolation at home, off campus.

The staff member was last on campus on Saturday, March 21. The staff member did not have symptoms when on campus, and did not have contact with students or faculty.

We realize this information may be difficult to receive. Please know that the College will remain in communication with the staff member and is providing support to this individual during the recovery period. The College is also in regular contact with state and local public health officials, who have provided guidance and support. It is important that we protect this person’s privacy.

Emerson’s Human Resources department is in the process of contacting those who may have had exposure and it will provide further guidance to those community members regarding recommendations for evaluation, monitoring and testing. Again, please be respectful of our community members’ privacy.

The staff member will be monitored daily by public health officials and, here at Emerson, College officials will continue to follow guidelines from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

As a reminder, students with health-related questions can contact the Center for Health and Wellness at 617-824-8666 and Emerson Counseling & Psychological Services at 617-824-8595.

Staff may contact the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 24 hours/7 days/week, 365 days/year at 1-800-828-6025 for support for themselves or family members during this challenging time.

Please continue to check Emerson’s COVID-19 site for additional information.

I ask that you keep all those who have been impacted by COVID-19 in your thoughts.

Sincerely,
Lee Pelton
