Student Updates: March 14

Good morning,

Here are a few updates that you might find helpful.

  • The Campus Life Suite in 411 Walker will be open and staffed Saturday (3/14) and Sunday (3/15) from 10:00 am-3:00 pm.  We will be answering phones and meeting with students.  No appointments are necessary.  617-824-8620, or 617-824-8640.  We will try to answer all messages promptly.
  • Emerson Los Angeles staff will be in the main lobby of the ELA building Saturday from 7:00 am-noon.
  • Student Financial Services staff will be answering phones Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am-3:00 pm., at 617-824-8655.
  • The mailroom on the Boston campus will be open on Saturday, March 14th from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm, and Sunday, March 15th from 11:00 am-1:00 pm.

Please note that any student requesting to remain in on-campus housing must complete the form linked in yesterday’s email.  The previous intent sent earlier in the week is no longer valid.

*The college is working to offer storage for residential students, and we anticipate boxes being available on Monday for pick up.  Please note that space is limited. If you have the ability to remove your belongings or store them elsewhere, please do so.  There are many who do not have the resources or support to move their belongings, and we do not want concern over where to store belongings to be a barrier at this time.

*Students who rented textbooks from the bookstore have the ability to print out a return label from the bookstore website to return their books.  You can ship rental books back to the store FREE OF CHARGE up until 11:59 pm on May 1st, which is the last day for rental returns.  After that date, you will not be able to access the shipping return label and will have to pay shipping costs to return your texts.

*Several students have requested information about short term housing, or assistance finding an apartment.  Please contact the Office of Campus Life at 617-824-8620 for information on hotels that offer discounts to members of the Emerson community. You can contact Desiree Bradford, Assistant Director for Off-Campus Student Services for information about apartments and leasing.  desiree_bradford@emerson.edu

Keep an eye out for more updates over the next few days.  I know there is a lot coming at you, and it can be difficult to manage.  We’ll work hard to keep you informed and do our best to support you during this transition.  I have tremendous confidence in our community.

Take care,
Jim Hoppe
Vice President and Dean of Campus Life
