New Emerson.edu to Debut July 31

Dear Emerson Community,

I’m pleased to announce that we will launch a newly redesigned and re-engineered emerson.edu on the evening of Wednesday, July 31.

The new emerson.edu features a mobile-first design, intuitive architecture, and a bold look that showcases Emerson’s community of passionate spirits. Importantly, the site has been engineered to meet all WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standards, ensuring an equitable experience for all visitors. The site also will be cloud-hosted, providing faster, more reliable service.

Major improvements include full integration with Workday for the staff and faculty directory, Emerson Today for news, and Banner for courses. In addition, eCommon has been reimagined into audience-specific pages (students, faculty and staff, and parents) that highlight actions most relevant to you as a user and provide links to the corresponding department.

The launch will not include all the content currently on emerson.edu. Over the next several months, we will work with the Emerson community to migrate the remaining pages. While that process is ongoing, the current site will continue to operate for a period of time at www2.emerson.edu, with a look and feel compatible to the new site to create a seamless experience for the public during that transition. eCommon will continue to exist at that address for the length of the migration as well.

Please take note:

  • During the initial launch phase, which could take up to two days, you will not be able to log into eCommon.
  • Search results will not be accurate until the sites are re-indexed by the major search engines, ie Google and Bing.
  • During migration, you may see some pages duplicated on www and www2 while we coordinate content.

We are excited to share this modern, dynamic new emerson.edu with the College community. Many thanks to all of you who shared feedback during the beta period. In exploring the site, if you find any issues, please report them to web@emerson.edu.

Sincerely,

Jason Beals and the Marketing and Communications team
