New Emergency Speaker System

Dear Emerson Community,

I would like to take a moment to inform you about some new emergency preparedness and safety resources that have recently been implemented at the College.

In each classroom and lab on the Boston campus you will now notice new speaker systems which are meant to broadcast Emerson Alert emergency notifications. When used for an emergency notification, the speakers will deliver an initial tone, followed by a broadcast of the Emerson Alert message. The speakers are also enabled with strobe lighting during an alert notification in order to optimize its visibility.
This new speaker system will enhance the College’s ability to reach community members during Emerson Alert emergency notifications, but please note that it does not replace any existing fire alarm systems or emergency reporting procedures. To report an emergency, please continue to contact the Emerson College Police Department at 617-824-8888, or dial 911.
Also, on the Emerson College app under Emergency Info, you will now find an Emergency Preparedness and Safety Guide which outlines steps to take to prepare for and respond to various types of emergencies. I encourage everyone to take just a few minutes to read through the various procedures in this guide. The guide can also be found online at emerson.edu/police/emergency-preparedness.
Thank you for your time, and I wish you all a safe semester,
Chris Beaurpere | Director of Emergency Management
