Summer internships featured on Facebook

Summer is internship season for Emerson College students, who are well known for landing coveted experiences at big name businesses and institutions in their chosen fields.

Emerson’s Career Services Office, which connects a large number of students to internships, has asked several students about their work life this summer and is featuring their responses Tuesdays and Thursdays now through September on the Career Services’ Facebook page and Twitter account.

Sarah LaFlamme ‘15 is an intern for NESN, the cable sports network that broadcasts the Boston Red Sox games.

“I found out about NESN at the Internship Fair at Emerson College,” said LaFlamme, a Visual and Media Arts major.

“They welcomed me with open arms, threw me into the thick of things (even if it meant messing up at first), and have accepted me as part of the team,” she said. “I am working alongside the pros, learning, progressing, and of course networking for my future! It also doesn’t hurt that I get to meet all the Red Sox players.”

Michael Moccio ‘16 is interning at Archie Comics Publications. During the school year, he worked for the campus entertainment magazine Emertainment Monthly.

“I get to see what it takes to make a comic book from start to finish,” said Moccio, a Writing, Literature, and Publishing major. “Because Archie is a smaller publisher, I get to see everything from incoming art, to proofreading, to editorial, and publicity! It’s been an amazing experience to see some of the stuff being worked on behind the scenes, and trust me—there are a lot of cool things coming!”
