Associated Press awards swept again by Emerson

Emerson’s student media outlets have once again swept the Associated Press Student Journalism Awards, winning 19 out of 24 awards given to college journalism students in the Boston area this month, according to the Journalism Department.

Additionally, Emerson’s WERS-FM won for Best College Radio Station, and WEBN-TV won for Best College TV Station.

Emerson students have won numerous AP awards for the past several years.

WERS 88.9 FM also won for Breaking News for its Boston Marathon bombing coverage; Continuing Coverage of Boston Strong; Documentary for Kennedy: A Legacy; Feature Reporting for Love, Marriage, and the Law; Investigative Reporting for Robin Hood of South Boston; Best Newscast; Public Affairs for The Mayor’s Barber; Sports Program for Sports Rivalries; Talk Show for George and Tori: Nova Scotia; and Use of Sound for Weirdo Records.

WEBN-TV also won for Breaking News for Marathon Bombing Special Presentation; Continuing Coverage for the Boston mayoral race; Documentary for The Emmy Experience; Hard News Feature for coverage of the Seaside Park fire; Sports Program for Sports Rivalries; and Talk Show for Every Woman Has a Story.

Emerson Independent Video (EIV) won for Best TV Newscast.
