Bobbi Brown ’79 named Yahoo beauty editor

World-renowned makeup artist and entrepreneur Bobbi Brown ’79 has been named editor-in-chief of Beauty for Yahoo, according to an announcement from the website on April 9.

BrownBrown will lead editorial direction, original content, and the expansion and re-imagination of Yahoo Beauty, the company said.

Brown is founder and chief creative officer of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, which has a presence in 60 countries. She has become a permanent fixture at New York Fashion Week and is a New York Times bestselling author.

“In this new role, I get to combine my interest in education and empowerment,” Brown said in a statement, “by curating amazing visual content that will teach women how to be their best selves. Beauty is not just about makeup. It’s about lifestyle and confidence.”

Brown continues to be involved in campaigns that promote women and girls’ empowerment, including The Pretty Powerful Campaign for Women & Girls.

Brown has made several gifts to Emerson over the years, and the College continues to offer courses and workshops in her name as part of the Bobbi Brown Program in Makeup Artistry. The gymnasium in Piano Row, the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym, is named after Brown and her husband.
