Town hall forum set for Monday, Oct. 21
Emerson President Lee Pelton announced in an October 17 email to the community that a town hall meeting will be held for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to discuss recent events. Here is his announcement:
Dear Emerson Community,
I am writing to invite you to a town hall meeting on Monday, 21 October, at 3:30 pm in the Cutler Majestic Theatre.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide you with an update on the College’s response to recent events, issues, and concerns related to sexual assault and to engage our community in a thoughtful conversation about this important topic.
I have asked Professor Lori Beth Way, Senior Advisor to Academic Affairs for Undergraduate Education, who is expertly knowledgeable about sexual assault on college campuses, to speak broadly about this issue. Elise Harrison, Director of Counseling & Psychological Services, will provide useful advice and information about the College’s counseling resources.
Dr. Sylvia Spears, Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion, Dr. Ron Ludman, Dean of Students, and Alexa Jackson, Title IX Coordinator and Associate Vice President for Human Resources, will also be present to answer questions along with Professor Way, Dr. Harrison, and me.
I respectfully ask faculty to consider enabling students to attend this important event.
I look forward to seeing you on Monday.
Sincerely,
Lee Pelton
