Women’s basketball gets season-high 96 points
The Emerson Women’s Basketball team closed out the 2012–2013 regular home schedule February 10 with a season-high 96 points, topping the Fisher Falcons 96–53.
With the win, the Lions push their winning streak to six games while improving to a 12–11 tally thus far as Fisher College falls to 1–24.
The first half saw Emerson click into high gear straight out of the start, shooting 53 percent as a team while hitting 50 percent from three-point land and 90 percent in free throws. Kristin Brice ’15 led the assault with 13 points to tie Fisher's Javanna Bernard to lead the floor. Right behind her off the bench was Elissa Chojnicki ’14, who heated up to hit 5-for-7 for 12 points of her own.
The Lions’ defense made the most out of throwing the Falcons off-balance as they forced six turnovers for 12 points in the half. For the first 20 minutes, though, it was all Emerson, scoring 22 points in the paint while the bench scored 29 to head into the half up 53–28.
The second half saw Emerson tear it up again—this time shooting 44 percent from the floor in the half. This time around, Brice and Chojnicki shared the wealth, dropping 10 points each to lead the Lions. Fisher’s Javanna Bernard led the floor, though, as she dropped 12 points in the half for the Falcons.
In the end, the Lions pulled away with a solid lead with the bench again dropping 22 points in the half in dominant fashion, pulling the bench's tally to 51 points on the day. Emerson also did work in the paint with 54 points overall coming from inside the box, rolling to a 96–53 win.
