A documentary co-produced by an Emerson alumnus that follows a U.S. Marine veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder as he rode a bicycle in October from Boston to Washington, D.C., will premiere at the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge on Monday, January 14, at 7:00 pm. The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the filmmakers.

The veteran, Camilo Atehortua, 30, of Watertown, Massachusetts, raised $2,000 on the ride for the Wounded Warrior Project and is featured in Ride Crazy: The Single Man March.

“People use cycling as a form of mental peace, not just for physical fitness,” said Kitty Martin ’88, who helped make the film with her husband, Anthony Barounis. Together they own Tonekat Productions of Roslindale, Massachusetts. “This film was to help honor all his brothers and sisters in the military, including those who suffer mental problems due to their service.”

Atehortua rode through the areas affected by Hurricane Sandy shortly after the storm hit, which is shown in the film.
