Herman ’11 named to Academic All-District Softball Team
Softball player Lynn Herman ’11 has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Softball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA). Each year, COSIDA recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. Herman, a Broadcast Journalism major from Boca Raton, Florida, was selected as a 2011 designated player under the Second Team of the College Division.
A team captain, Herman also played outfield for the Lions. As a first team Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Conference selection, Herman hit a .363 average during the 2011 season, has a .713 slugging percentage, and led the Lions with six home runs. She also had 10 doubles and knocked in 25 runs, while being a perfect five for five in stolen base attempts.
Herman was primarily a pitcher her first year at Emerson. She twirled a no hitter as a first-year. In her junior year, she tied the NCAA Division III home run records of four in a game and two in an inning in a game against Albertus Magnus College.
While at Emerson, Herman has been involved with WEBN (Emerson’s student-run campus television station), and spent the Fall 2010 semester in Emerson’s Los Angeles Program. She worked on The Emmy Experience, Emerson’s red carpet coverage of the 2010 Emmy Awards, and also worked on Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane on the E! Network.
Emerson softball finished the regular season with a 26–10 record and won the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Regular season championship.
