Finn’s film lauded by Village Voice

Visual and Media Arts lecturer and filmmaker Jim Finn was recently recognized by The Village Voice columnist Jim Hoberman for producing one of the top 10 best films of 2010.

Finn’s The Juche Idea is a mockumentary about image-making in North Korea and the notion of “juche,” North Korea’s concept of self-reliance. The Juche Idea joins big-budget Hollywood films such as Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer and Christopher Nolan’s Inception on Hoberman’s list.

This honor is the most recent of a series of accolades for Finn. Although he has made just three features so far, all of which fall into the mockumentary sub-genre, he has also received recognition for his distinctly experimental style in The New York Times and through screenings at New York and Chicago underground film festivals.
