Emerson Team Vies for Title at the 2010 Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival
A team of Emerson College students has made it to the final four in the Rooftop Comedy National College Comedy Competition, sponsored by Turner Broadcasting System (TBS).
The team is up against Loyola Marymount, Xavier University, and the University of Florida for the title of Rooftop Comedy National College Champion.
The public voted online for their favorite comedy teams. Out of eight semi-finalists, Emerson was one of four comedy teams with the most votes, and will advance to the National Finals at the 2010 Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival.
“I’ve had all of the Emerson team students in my classes, and they are a funny and hard-working bunch who are great representatives of the Emerson comedy scene,” said Mike Bent who teaches comedy writing at Emerson. “I know they will kick butt in Aspen.”
The Festival takes place June 9–13 at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado, and showcases the best in comedy and interactive media. In addition to comedy fans, the Festival brings together leading thinkers and doers from the entertainment, media, advertising, and emerging technology industries.
Headlining the festival are comedians Michael Ian Black, Kevin Shea, Moshe Kasher, Chris Fairbanks as well as many others.
