Emerson College is celebrating its third consecutive year in the top 10 for U.S. News & World Report’s Best College’s guidebook, 2018 edition, which ranks the College #7 for “Best Regional Universities in the North.” This represents a steady rise in the rankings for Emerson over the last six years from #14 in 2012.
In this year’s rankings, U.S. News & World Report cited Emerson’s 88 percent retention rate and highlighted that 70 percent of first-year students were in the top 25 percent of their high school graduating classes. Additionally, the College had one of the lowest acceptance rates among institutions in the category, at 48 percent for last year. The Fall 2017 acceptance rate of 46 percent, which will be used in next year’s rankings, makes the college even more competitive.
“Emerson is proud to appear on the U.S. News & World Report top 10 rankings list again this year,” said Emerson President Lee Pelton. “We are pleased that our continued work toward becoming the world leader in higher education in communications and the arts has been recognized.”
This year’s U.S. News and World Report rankings include data on almost 1,800 colleges and universities, ranked according to the publication’s own methodology. The rankings are based on several key measures of quality including the results of peer assessment surveys completed by academic leaders and administrators (22.5%), graduation and retention rates (22.5%), faculty resources (20%), student selectivity (12.5%), financial resources (10%), graduation rate performance (7.5%), and alumni giving (5%).
