The 7 Fingers’ electrifying and heart-stirring mix of circus, music, and dance has made them fan favorites at ArtsEmerson. That’s why we’re so excited to bring Montreal’s famed company back to Boston for their seventh engagement – and this time, we’re on a new, thrilling journey.

Speeding through, up and over the shifting landscapes of our lives, Passengers reminds us that we always have somewhere we’ve got to go, but often don’t know where we’re headed or who we’ll meet along the way. Climb aboard and take an unforgettable ride that will engage your imagination, pull at your heartstrings and remind you what it’s like to find wonder and beauty in all situations.

What Matters to Me and Why: A lunchtime speaker series from the Center for Spiritual Life

September 27, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

YOU are invited to join the Center for Spiritual Life for our early fall edition of “What Matters to Me and Why”! We’ll gather for a light lunch and rich conversation as we listen to an invited speaker share their motivations, values, and why they do what they do.
During each session, members of the Emerson community can enjoy a deeper look into the journeys, motivations, and values of an invited speaker who will spend about 15-20 minutes addressing the topic “What Matters to Me and Why,” and then the floor is opened to informal dialogue for the remainder of the hour. Sponsored by the Center for Spiritual Life at Emerson, this informal lunchtime gathering about the motivations and passions of each guest speaker also invites each of us to reflect on our own motivations, passions, and why we do what we do.

An aspiring young director rampages against the art created by his mother’s generation. A nubile young actress wrestles with an aging Hollywood star for the affections of a renowned novelist. And everyone discovers just how disappointing love, art, and growing up can be.

In this irreverent, contemporary, and very funny remix of Chekhov’s The Seagull, Aaron Posner stages a timeless battle between young and old, past and present, in search of the true meaning of it all. Original songs composed by James Sugg draw the famously subtextual inner thoughts of Chekhov’s characters explicitly to the surface. Stupid F##king Bird will tickle, tantalize, and incite you to consider how art, love, and revolution fuel your own pursuit of happiness.
