WLP Reading Series: Nalo Hopkinson

Jamaican-Canadian writer Nalo Hopkinson is a top speculative fiction writer, the author of numerous novels and short stories as well as the lead author of The House of Whispers, a DC Comics series set in Neil Gaiman’s Sandman Universe. Just recently, Nalo received the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Awards, a lifetime honor from the Science Fiction Writers of America, making her the youngest Grand Master and the first woman of African descent to win the award. Her Novels include Brown Girl in the Ring, The Salt Roads, and Sister Mine. Her writing often draws on Caribbean language and traditions. She’s been a finalist for the Nebula Award and won a World Fantasy Award as well as the Gaylactic Spectrum Award for positive LGBTQ representation.

Free and open to the public. Alumni and friends of Emerson, please join us. Please note that the reading will be recorded for archival purposes and streamed to Facebook Live (WLP Town Crier). RSVP necessary by Wednesday, April 7, 11:30 pm ET on Eventbrite. A Zoom link will be emailed the morning of the event.

Order Nalo’s titles from Porter Square Books. If you’d like a signed book, put a note in your order comments that you’d like a signed copy and who you’d like it signed to. Personalized book requests due by end of the day on Mon, April 12. Books will begin to be shipped two weeks after the event.
