VR Documentary Showcase: Beyond Mass Incarceration

In partnership with the Federal Probation Office’s Nurturing Fatherhood Program, students, probation officers, formerly incarcerated fathers, and their children have collaborated to tell fathers’ stories using virtual reality platforms.
Through an empowering documentary process that centers community co-creation, Assistant Professor Rashin Fahandej’s Collaborative XR Documentary Production class aims to build an understanding of the systemic issues surrounding mass incarceration and its impact on individuals and underrepresented communities.
Featuring work by Benjamin Nicolas, William Cabrera, Vaughn Lewis, Yisthen Yonoa, James Woody, Anne Bennett, Riddhima Dave, Isabella Escobedo, Angelina Gu, Tianhao Guan Byung, Chan Jang, Hangming Lou, Eryn McCallum, Queenn McKend, Parker Obregon, Hanna Schoettelkotte, Cole Tatham, Jennifer Van Pelt, and Jiaqi Wang.  In collaboration with the Department of Journalism, Department of Visual Media Arts,  the Marlboro Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies, and the Engagement Lab at Emerson College. In partnership with the Federal Probation Office and community partners in Boston.
