Students’ Campaign for Diverse Books to Build a Library

November 10, 2021 - December 15, 2021

Emerson students enrolled in the Nonprofit Fundraising Campaigns course are raising awareness about the absence of libraries in 40 percent of Boston Public Schools. They also are partnering with the Edison K-8 School and its teachers to build its first library and fill it with books that represent the diversity of its students. They are doing this by running On the Same Page,  along with their professor Cathryn Edelstein. Each semester a new group of students create a campaign for a different Boston Public school.  So far, over 1500 books have been donated to four Boston schools that desperately needed stories and characters the students could relate to. The list of books on each wish list is curated by faculty from the benefiting schools.  All books are purchased through the Frugal Bookstore, the only Black owned bookstore in Boston.

Books can be donated using this link DONATE A BOOK. Help the Edison School and its students get what every school deserves. Everyone deserves the opportunity to be part of a story.
