Join us for a learning and discussion session about the basics of Islam, Muslim practices, and common misperceptions about both. Choice of two sessions: April 2 @ 11am or April 8 @ 2pm.
The sessions will be led by Barbara Sahli, an outreach educator who has provided educational presentations for numerous Boston area universities and the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, focusing on understanding Muslims and countering Islamophobia with an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Carol Ferrara, assistant professor in the Marketing Communication department at Emerson with a PhD in sociocultural anthropology and expertise on pluralism and Islam in France and Europe. The sessions will be hosted by the Center for Spiritual Life at Emerson College and Intercultural Student Affairs.
This event is open to staff, faculty, and students, in the interest of pursuing greater cultural understanding and consciousness together, as a community of Emersonians, Bostonians, and engaged global citizens.
Please email Jule Avis Rogers (julie_avisrogers@emerson.edu) or Carol Ferrara (carol_ferrara@emerson.edu) for more information. Looking forward to seeing you there!
