2021 Speech and Hearing Foundation of MA Annual Lecture

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Emerson College is pleased to announce  the 2021 Speech and Hearing Foundation of Massachusetts lecture by Dr. Poorna Kushnalnagar, Director of the Center for Deaf Health Equity, and Special Assistant to the Provost for Research, at Gallaudet University.
 
Understanding Health Disparitieswithin the Deaf Community:Gender, Sexuality, and Race
In the era of increased awareness of diversity, inclusion, and equity within communities, this talk will discuss gender, sexual, and racial disparities in health and healthcare within the Deaf community.

Dr. Kushalnagar will present the lecture in American Sign Language.There will be spoken English interpretation and CART provided.
 
 
Dr. Poorna Kushalnagar directs the Center for Deaf Health Equity at Gallaudet University and works as the Special Assistant to the Provost for Research. She is the principal investigator of grants funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) that support studies aligned with her primary research interests in deaf health equity and patient reported outcomes research. She is an invited member of the RWJF People with Disabilities Expert Panel to transform public health data systems to advance health equity.
